The $10 consumer fee
Opened 21 October 2026. The dollars are on the First Interstate fee schedule disclosure and on the fee schedule PDF. The schedule is effective 3 August 2026. A consumer overdraft item that the bank pays is $10, with a maximum of 4 per day. A consumer returned item has no charge.
A business overdraft item that the bank pays is $30, and a business returned item is also $30. The business daily maximum is 5. An overdraft transfer from another deposit account has no charge. A transfer from a line of credit is $5 for a consumer and $10 for a business. The disclosure lists 855-342-3400.
The line on your own statement is the one that counts. Upload it on the upload page. The PDF stays on your device. Expenvo lists the lines. It does not call the institution.
| Line | What First Interstate prints |
|---|---|
| Consumer overdraft item paid | $10, maximum of 4 a day |
| Consumer returned item | No charge |
| Business overdraft item paid | $30 |
| Business returned item | $30, maximum of 5 a day |
| Transfer from another deposit account | No charge |
| Line of credit transfer, consumer | $5 |
| Line of credit transfer, business | $10 |
How to avoid it
Match the account before you use the $10. A business account is the $30 row. The consumer $10 is only for an item the bank pays. A consumer item it sends back is no charge, so a returned-item line at $10 would not match this schedule.
A transfer from another First Interstate deposit account is the free way the schedule covers a shortfall. The line of credit transfer is a different product and has its own fee. The four-a-day cap is for consumer paid items. It does not apply the business cap of five to a personal account.
