The $30 fee
Opened 21 October 2026. The current figures are on Pinnacle's updated overdraft services page and on the fee disclosure PDF. A paid item is $30 for a consumer account and for a business account. That replaced $38. A consumer returned item was eliminated, so it is $0, and it used to be $38. A business returned item is $30.
The consumer cushion is the part that changes the bill. Pinnacle does not charge a paid-item fee until the account is overdrawn by more than $15. The cap is 3 paid-item fees a day, or $90. That used to be 5 fees and $190. The page says these changes took effect on 1 August 2022, and that page is still the one Pinnacle publishes.
The same page lists client service numbers: 800.264.3613 for Tennessee, Atlanta, and Alabama, and 800.262.7175 for the Carolinas and Virginia. Anytime line numbers on the site are 866.755.5428 and 877.842.4180.

How to avoid it
A shortfall of $15 or less is inside the cushion the page prints, so a paid-item fee should not post for that day on a consumer account. A returned consumer item should be $0. A $30 return on a consumer statement would not match this page. A business return can still be $30.
Three paid items are inside the cap. A fourth $30 paid-item fee on the same day is past the cap of three, or past $90. Asking Pinnacle to review a fee is a request. The bank can say no. A different bank that uses the word Pinnacle in its name is not this schedule.
